The Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BY‑20 is a professional desktop direct‑to‑film (DTF) printer that makes it fast and easy to decorate T‑shirts, jerseys, tote bags, home decor, and more. With integrated contour cutting, BY‑20 also handles traditional print‑and‑cut heat‑transfer graphics.

The latest S‑PG2 ink set delivers higher white density, improved ink laydown, and faster drying,  producing durable transfers and enabling better automation when paired with shaker/dryer systems.

Roland DGA provides technical support for only BY-20 printers used with Roland DG ink, media, and approved shaker. Any third-party equipment not purchased through Roland DGA is not covered and remains the responsibility of the owner.

NOTE: Repair and maintenance made necessary by the use of any ink that is not expressly certified and approved by Roland DGA Corporation is not covered by the Roland DGA Standard Warranty or the Extended Service Contract. Other items not covered under this program include cap tops, sponges, filters, wiper scraper, cutting protection strips, pinch rollers, blades (sheet cut and standard), blade holder, ink, cleaning solutions and media. This device can be extended to three years of warranty. Warranty requires device registration.

Q: What’s new about S‑PG2 vs. S‑PG inks?
A: Higher white density, improved laydown and stability, faster drying—better adhesion and wash durability; firmware/RIP updates add auto white layer generation in VersaWorks 7.

Q: Does BY‑20 support automated roll‑to‑roll shaker/dryers?
A: Yes—BY‑20 integrates with popular shaker/heater units but only shaker/dryers sold by Roland DGA are officially supported.

Q: Which materials can I transfer to?
A: Cotton, polyester, cotton/poly blends, denim, nylon, rayon—both light and dark garments (no weeding required).

Q: I don’t see ink online for sale. How can I buy?
A: Roland DGA will sell ink only to customers who buy the device directly from Roland DGA. After purchase, please allow a couple business days and you will see ink online when logged into your account.

The following add-ons can be included in your BY-20 bundle.

Ink – Roland DG printers do not include ink. The S-PG2 BY-20 ink bundle, sold separately or as part of this bundle, includes all the ink needed for printer: S-PG2-2BK, S-PG2-2CY, S-PG2-2MG, S-PG2-2YE, and S-PG2-2WH.

Media – Add a roll of DTF media S-F164 and S-Powder to your BN2 bundle. Roland media comes with the added benefit of having preconfigured printing profiles.

DTF Powder Shaker & Oven– Automate your DTF printer with a Roland DGA certified inline powder shaker and oven. We will share our preconfigured printing profile to work with this device.
